Each year, our Grade 11 IB students complete an integrative science experience known as the Group 4 Project. This year’s theme was ‘Self-sufficiency, Can We feed ourselves?’. Students and teachers visited Bluefields Farm for a guided tour and lecture series on aquaponics, hydroponics and sustainable farming practices. Students were then challenged with designing and presenting their own self-sufficient farm. We were pleased with their display of 21st Century Skills through this project. Not only did they think critically, but were creative, collaborative, and communicated well.
