On Saturday, May 30th, our Builders Club held its Buy Extra and Donate service project in collaboration with Lowe’s Pharmacy at Southwest Plaza. This project was a repeat of last year’s initiative, students from grades 6-8 volunteered from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to collect donated supplies for the All Saints Camp, a home for children and adults suffering with HIV/AIDS. The group was assisted by grade 9 Key club member Mataya Romer and our sponsoring club, Kiwanis Club of Southwest New Providence and its members.
It was especially heart-warming to witness students’ excitement and eagerness as donations poured in throughout the day. Thanks to the generosity of the community, a substantial quantity of essential items was collected, including personal hygiene products, household supplies, and other necessities. The project was a tremendous success. Among the items donated were over 300 bars of soap, 338 sanitary napkins, over 100 rolls of toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, deodorant and other various toiletry items. The project served as an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the needs of the residents at All Saints. Throughout the day, students interacted with hundreds of shoppers and community members, sharing information about the donation drive and encouraging participation.
